Is Artificial Intelligence reinventing Human Resource Management? Automation is in our lives from decades, every industry from healthcare to transportation, legal, finance, education works with automation in some or other way. The use of Artificial Intelligence will prove to be a step forward towards the growth of the business/organization, it provides efficiency and productivity in business. Artificial Intelligence will bring accuracy and consistency in business at some level by creating new jobs.

Talking about Human resource management, a strategic approach, which acts as a link between employees and organization will be affected at most. Recruitment and Talent Acquisition are the two main areas which have a great impact of automation in an organization. Applicant Tracking System(ATS) for recruitment is an example of automation in the HR department. There are many start-up companies who provide solutions and services by using artificial intelligence to companies for recruiting, sourcing, interviewing and onboarding employees.

Artificial Intelligence and Automation with HR will explore the new technology and provide the basic strategies that will help to turn basic threats into opportunities. AI will reduce the workload of employees and automation will provide the path for short, mid and long-term benefits. At the initial level, AI will act as a right hand of HR by providing effective, efficient and accurate work.

AI will play a big role in managing employees by transforming HR into strategic and analytical HR i.e, by hiring the right talent, reducing human bias, increasing efficiency in candidate assessment, improving the relations of employees etc.

When it comes to people management by using the database the focus is on analytical skills, coding is used to match the profiles of candidates where the software uses data and algorithm to work smartly. AI will not take HR jobs rather it will provide new jobs such as HR analysts.

Merging of AI with Human Resource Management will prove to be beneficial for employees as well as for organizations growth. A survey conducted by IBM says that out of  6000 executives, “66% of CEO’s believe that cognitive computing will play a significant value in HR, other HR executives believe that cognitive computing can transform the HR dimensions. 54% believe that cognitive computing will affect the role of HR in an Organization.

“Should AI be adopted or not” is still a question for some organizations. Some organizations are too small to use AI and in some seniors think that there is no need to have AI or automation. But some organizations are using automation at the higher pace throughout the whole employee life cycle.

Automation may help in:-

Determining your mood– If An employee is in a meeting for 3-4 hours and after that, he has to take a client call. The AI will give feedback to take rest as “you are tired.”

Hiring process– Data mining and coding is used to by AI to become smarter and to hire an appropriate candidate for an organization.

Training Ideas– AI can provide suggestions for training to be given to employees based on their performance and job role.

Vibrant Technology– The use of smart bands will be a wrist-worn activity tracker that will not only monitor the fitness but also log every aspect of work done. It is a device or application to monitor and track employees metric and will have a direct link with the employees mobile phone to provide alert for incoming calls or messages.

Smarter “People Analytics”

Organizations are collecting data from its customers for ages to determine and to predict the future. AI will take the task of recording, mapping, analyzing and predicting the future, but catching the whole scenario and converting it into automation is in hands of HR. So HR will have the power to operate AI systematically, known as people analytics which enables AI to play a major role in HR.

Reducing bias

HRPA (Human Resource Professional Association) noted that employees strive to be biased in some or other way. Taking the example of language, it is a physiological bias, which is created in a job description and resumes. Thanks to AI, algorithms can be set in a such a way to reduce and remove this bias patterns and will help the companies to select diverse candidates.

AI as supporting system

AI will help the new employees to know the company culture. A system should be developed which contains job wise data and some situational based solutions as well as a database of all employees (from other departments too) that will frequently help new employees to know that to whom they have to approach and to solve their problems by doing the situational analysis. The system may also provide the type of training which the employees require based on his/her job role and on their performance. Here AI will act as a support system for employees which will provide direction to employees work and reduces the complexity of work that will directly lead to employee satisfaction and results in increasing retention rate and productivity of an organization.

Conclusion

AI and Automation will help in manufacturing more productive and accurate employees by developing analytical skills. AI will act as a backbone for organizations which will provide an insight to predict the customer behavior and to keep a check on employees performance which will lead to increased profitability and productivity of an organization.
